An individual who contaminated sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a youth camp in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and 10.

Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on recently.

However, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.

The man engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.

"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the police about his suspicions.

She said the man went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.

Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the police again.

She said the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
