19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
